Purpose-limited intake for matching students and employers.
BUConnect collects only what staff need to consider a match. This page is the MVP privacy notice. Production hosting on buconnectatthecatalystatbelhaven.org must be reviewed by Information Technology and aligned with university policy, including FERPA for education records.
What we collect
Students: name, Belhaven email, optional phone, major, class standing, skills, interests, opportunity types, résumé link, availability, and consent.
Employers: organization information, contact person, industry, opportunity description, desired skills, and consent.
Why we collect it
To review submissions, suggest matches, introduce parties, and report aggregate counts (registrations, opportunities, test results) to stakeholders.
Who can see it
Designated Belhaven personnel in Career Services, The Catalyst, and IT as needed to operate the service. Employers do not receive a student roster. Students do not receive an employer roster. Introductions are individual and staff-mediated.
This prototype stores records in the browser (localStorage) for demonstration. That is not acceptable for production student data.
What not to submit
- Social Security numbers, passwords, or account credentials
- Protected health information (PHI) or clinical details
- Official transcripts or FERPA-protected grade files via this form
- Confidential employer data, customer lists, or security details
Retention
MVP recommendation: keep active records for the academic year of the November initiative, then archive or delete according to Career Services retention rules. Students and employers may email BUConnect@belhaven.edu to request a correction.
BUConnect is a Belhaven University initiative with The Catalyst and Career Services.
