Belhaven students · Mississippi employers

Connect with internships, jobs, and paid projects across Mississippi.

BUConnect is Belhaven University’s intake system for matching students with Mississippi businesses. Students tell us their skills, interests, and availability. Employers tell us what they need. Career Services, The Catalyst, and supporting staff review both sides and make introductions. This is the Phase 1 MVP for the November initiative—not a full career-management platform.

Who it’s for

Two doors. One matching process.

Choose the path that matches who you are. Belhaven personnel handle the connection—students and employers do not browse each other’s private records in this MVP.

Belhaven students

Share contact information, major, skills, career interests, the kinds of opportunities you want, résumé information, and when you can work.

  • Internships, jobs, paid projects, shadows, and mentorship
  • Matching uses skills, interests, opportunity type, and availability
  • Staff follow up; you are not auto-hired by submitting

Mississippi businesses

Tell us about your organization and the internship, job, or project you can offer Belhaven students—including skills you need and how to reach you.

  • One opportunity per submission (submit again for additional roles)
  • Jackson metro and statewide Mississippi employers welcome
  • Belhaven staff screen and introduce qualified students
How the MVP works

Collect. Organize. Introduce.

The November goal is a working intake and review process—not automated hiring, payroll, or a public job board.

  1. Intake

Students and employers complete short interest forms. Submissions are stored for staff review and also generate an email to the BUConnect mailbox.

  2. Review

Career Services / Catalyst staff check completeness, eligibility, and whether an opportunity is appropriate for a Belhaven student.

  3. Match

The prototype scores skill, opportunity-type, industry, and location overlap. People confirm the fit before anyone is introduced.

  4. Introduction

Staff record the introduction and follow up by email. Later phases can add Handshake, SIS, or a production database.

Stakeholders: Belhaven University, The Catalyst, Career Services, and Information Technology. CIS-Team 1: Day’la Beamon (Business/Systems Analyst & Project Lead) and Knayo Williams Jr. (Developer/Technical Lead & QA).

BUConnect is a Belhaven University initiative with The Catalyst and Career Services.
